Silver Bow County's largest employer is government with 17% of the total employment. Private employers fall in the services, trade, manufacturing and utilities industries. Private health care is the number one private sector with about 16% of total employment, followed retail trade. Utilities has strong employment with NorthWestern Energy's Montana headquarters in Butte. Professional, scientific, and technical services also has a positive impact on employment with six percent of the total private employment and 10% of the total wages.
